I am utterly delighted to announce to you who our keynote speakers will be for Fahrenheit 2451: Ideas Worth Saving, the conference Jordan Modell and I are planning in San Francisco in January.
* Owen A. Barfield, grandson of Owen Barfield the Inkling; public speaker; artist; and trustee of the Barfield Literary Estate. He will share with us about his grandfather’s ongoing relevance and legacy.
* Crystal Downing, significant scholar of Sayers, cinema, and postmodernism; former Distinguished Professor of English and Film Studies at Messiah College; former Co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center; and former Co-holder of the Marion E. Wade Chair in Christian Thought at Wheaton College. She will speak about Sayers and Changing Signs of Truth.
* David Downing, noted scholar of C.S. Lewis; fiction writer; former R. W. Schlosser Professor of English, Elizabethtown College; former Co-Director of the Marion E. Wade Center; and former Co-holder of the Marion E. Wade Chair in Christian Thought at Wheaton College. David will talk to us about CS Lewis: A Man Worth Saving.
Together, these three speakers have writen and edited a glorious wealth of books, scholarly, philosophical, literary, and popular. They have given hundreds of talks and presentations on Barfield, Sayers, Lewis, theoretical ideas, movies, and more. We hope that they will also do some dramatic readings, teach a workshop, join our panel discussions, and be available for rich conversation with conference attendees.
