Good morning from Wheaton, Illinois! I am very happy to report that I made it to the Marion E. Wade center, after a veeeeeery long day of travel on Thursday and then a glorious weekend of theatre in Milwaukee. This morning, I’ve already gone through manuscripts and typescripts of The House by the Stable to check whether one letter is in the original or not; I’ll post about that later.
Now I’m turning to my real task for today: writing notes for the chapter of The Oddest Inkling on CW’s Christianity. I’m going to try to answer the question: What exactly did Williams believe? What were his positions on key doctrines? What were his most firmly-held convictions? Where, that we know, did he deviate from traditional Christian theology? On this last point, I don’t mean in his occultism; don’t worry, there will be plenty of chapters about that. But I mean within the Christian realm of his thought, where was he distinctive, different, unique.
Here’s how you can help me:
- First, you can send questions you’d like me to try to answer. THANK YOU to those of you who have already done this!
- Second, if you really want to be an awesome super star (and get an endnote in the book), you could go through some of his published theological works and pick out quotes that answer my questions above about what exactly he believed. If you wanted to toss any of those my way, I’d be super grateful! <3
Thanks!
